When your family gets together for a special occasion, it is always a good time to get your family portrait made. Even scheduling an outdoor location session in July! This family contacted me for a July portrait session at the Mandalay Canals at Las Colinas. These images will be used for their holiday cards this year and I love the fact that they wanted to get their portraits made early, while their entire family was together.
In this first set, we did a few images of the granddaughter, who just graduated high school. She brought her formal dress and we spent about 15 minutes in a couple of spots in one location to create her portrait. She was getting ready to go to A&M to start her first year in college, so this was a very special time in their family’s life.
While she was changing into her other outfit, we started with one of the small family groups
We then got the large family group together before this little one above was done for the day, and did the large family portraits.
We then did the siblings with their parents
And of course grandpa and grandma with the grandkids! This is a sample of the fun more expressive style of lifestyle photography we always include within the portrait session.

We did a lot of other breakdowns such as couples together: Grandma and Grandpa, Parents, etc. We love to do a lot of different groupings during a large family session. We hope this gives you a look into a large family session on location. The Mandalay Canals at Las Colinas is always in season for a beautiful session any time of the year!
